Simple Ways to Control the Impacts of Noise Pollution

Noise Fence

Noise pollution has emerged as one of the severe problems after the pollution coming out from the smokes of vehicles running on the roads and industries. The impacts of noise pollution on human health are equivalent to the pollution on roads. It would not be wrong to say that dealing with both these types of pollution has become a matter of concern of the city management of different cities in the entire world. Interestingly installation of the noise barriers in the noise-pollution prone area has emerged as one of the effective ways to control the effects of noise pollution to a huge extent.

Well, now the question arises that how do these barriers work? To restrict the entrance of sounds or to minimize the intensity of the irritating sound these barriers are erected across the boundary of the place which is affected by its impacts. As a general practice, there are two types of noise barriers namely reflective noise barriers and absorptive noise barriers. The reflective noise barriers reflect the sounds to their source of origin or push them into a different direction so that they could move inside the property. The absorptive noise barriers as the name suggest absorb the sound of the place where they are installed. Where the reflective barriers are installed outside the place covering its whole area, the absorptive barriers are installed in pair opposite to each other, so that both of them can absorb the sound.

Noise Barriers

It would be interesting to know that installing the noise barriers help in minimizing the impacts of sounds up to 90% of its frequency. The worth mentioning feature of these barriers is that they are also effective in controlling the effects of sounds generated on roads, railway stations, and also on the airports. Thus, in short, it can be said that noise barriers have proved to be an effective way to reduce the side-effects of noise on human health.

Besides noise barriers, there are some more ways by which the frequency of the sound can be minimized. These ways are mentioned below:

  1. The local administration of different cities across the world should try to locate the industries, airports, and various sources generating the sounds outside the residential areas.
  2. A strict law should be imposed by the local administration of cities that restricts the use of sources that are responsible for generating the sounds, especially at the public places. The government should strictly restrict the use of loudspeakers and loud music during the parties organized in the residential areas and grounds located near houses.
  3. The traffic authorities should restrict the use of noisy horns on the vehicles. Anyone found having such horn on his vehicle should be fined.
  4. To control the emergence of sounds inside the factories, school, shopping malls, and different places that are visited by hundreds of people daily, insulation should be made necessary to control the noise.
  5. Public places like shopping malls, theatres, night clubs, colleges, schools, and other places should be instructed to make arrangements for restricting the emergence of noise pollution inside their premises. So that there is no disturbance to the people living in their surrounding area.
  6. The areas close to hospitals, schools, and offices should be regarded as sensitive areas and anyone found making the noise around them should be punished strictly according to the law.

Summing-up: Controlling the impacts of noise pollution is possible, the only thing is to implement the rules and regulations determined by the government strictly and also make the people aware about the serious effects of excessive sounds on human health.
